She won her first FIS Alpine World Ski Championship gold medal in the combined event on February 10, 2017 in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Born on May 12, 1993, in Unteriberg, Switzerland to parents Daniela and Martin Holdener, she has two brothers named Kevin and Steve. She started skiing at the age of three, and joined Swiss Ski C-Cadaver at sixteen. Wendy made her World Cup debut in Sölden on 23 October 2010, and attained her first podium in March 2013, a second place in slalom at Ofterschwang.
